Shidler DAP students support FFF with business project

A select group of Direct Admit Program (DAP) students at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa Shidler College of Business showed what the future of business leadership looks like — community-centered.

In their #Entrepreneurship class, the freshmen DAP students set up shop and ran their own business for two weeks after a #seedmoney invested by their professor. The idea was for the students to use the investment to support their business ideas, run a business, and hopefully, grow some healthy returns.

The young entrepreneurs created businesses that sold ice popsicles, sustainable ring accessories, refreshments (iced water and coffee), and provided dorm cleaning services and cleaning equipment rental.

The class agreed to donate the proceeds of their business ventures by nominating their #nonprofit of choice and voting on their preferred recipient.

The #FinleyFortFoundation is lucky to be the chosen recipient.

Mahalo to Prof. Constancio Paranal who gave the students this amazing opportunity not only to learn about running a business but also the importance of #socialresponsibility.

Mahalo for inviting our Executive Director, Mr. Brandon Kamigaki , to share more about the foundation — what we have done and what we are committed to doing.

We want to thank the students for considering and donating to the Finley Fort Foundation. We understand that it came from a lot of innovative ideas and hard work! We really appreciate it. It was also great spending time with the class and discussing organizational models, social responsibility, and ethics. I was happy to see the students asking engaging questions. - Kamigaki

Every dollar donated to FFF will make a pet and its ohana truly happy.

The class donation was timely and had been earmarked to support baby Coco, a french bulldog that needs surgery.
